neutral observer
Unbiased watching party
A neutral observer is someone who watches or evaluates a situation without favoring any side.
The term implies objectivity and detachment—no stake in the outcome, no bias coloring perception.
As a neutral observer, she could see both parties had valid complaints.
Often invoked in disputes, experiments, or journalism where impartiality matters, though true neutrality is sometimes questioned as impossible or illusory.
