negativism
Chronic contrary attitude
Negativism is a tendency toward persistent skepticism, resistance, or refusal—especially when it seems reflexive rather than reasoned.
In psychology, it describes behavior marked by opposition to suggestions or expectations: a child in a negativistic phase says no to everything.
More broadly, negativism is habitual pessimism or contrariness: His constant negativism made him exhausting to work with.
