moundsman
Pitcher, in slang
A moundsman is a baseball pitcher—the player who throws from the raised dirt mound at the center of the diamond.
The term appears in sportswriting as a synonym for pitcher: The veteran moundsman struck out twelve batters.
It's slightly old-fashioned but still current in baseball journalism.
