Bob Gibson

Dominant sixties pitcher

Bob Gibson (1935–2020) was an American baseball pitcher for the St.

Louis Cardinals, widely considered one of the most dominant pitchers in Major League history.

His 1968 season—a 1.12 ERA, the lowest in the modern era—prompted MLB to lower the pitching mound.

Known for his fierce competitiveness and intimidating presence on the mound, Gibson won two Cy Young Awards and two World Series MVP awards.
