mooring line
Boat's parking rope
A mooring line is a rope or cable used to secure a boat or ship to a dock, pier, or buoy.
Vessels typically use multiple mooring lines—bow lines, stern lines, and spring lines—to prevent movement in different directions: Check the mooring lines before the storm hits.
The term extends to any line that holds something stationary.
