money ball
Analytics-driven team building
Moneyball refers to a data-driven approach to baseball management that prioritizes statistical analysis over traditional scouting intuition, famously pioneered by the Oakland Athletics in the early 2000s.
The term comes from the 2003 Michael Lewis book chronicling the strategy.
It has since expanded beyond baseball to describe any analytical approach that finds undervalued assets: They're applying moneyball principles to hiring.
