missed cue
Ignored stage signal
A missed cue is a signal or prompt that someone fails to notice or respond to.
In theater, an actor misses a cue when they don't enter, speak, or act at the right moment.
More broadly, it's any social or situational hint that goes unregistered: She gave him every signal to leave, but he missed every cue.
Missing cues suggests obliviousness or poor timing.
