misdeal

Faulty card distribution

A misdeal is an error in dealing cards—giving too many or too few to a player, exposing a card that should stay hidden, or dealing out of turn.

The hand is typically voided and redealt.

As a verb, to misdeal is to make such an error: The dealer misdealt and we had to start over.
