mining camp
Ore workers' village
A mining camp is a temporary settlement established near a mine or mining claim, typically during a rush or boom period.
These camps housed miners and support services—stores, saloons, assay offices—and ranged from tent clusters to rough-built towns.
Many disappeared when deposits ran out; others became permanent communities: Virginia City started as a mining camp.
