milk gravy

White pan sauce

Milk gravy is a thick white sauce made by cooking flour in pan drippings, then adding milk and stirring until thickened.

A staple of Southern American cooking, it's poured over biscuits, fried chicken, or country-fried steak: Biscuits and gravy for breakfast.

Also called white gravy or sawmill gravy.
