military dog
Soldier's trained hound
A military dog is a dog trained for combat or security operations—detecting explosives, tracking enemies, guarding installations, or apprehending suspects.
Also called war dogs or K-9 units, these animals serve alongside soldiers and often receive formal military ranks: The military dog sniffed out the IED before the patrol reached it.
