midlatitude

Between tropics, poles

Midlatitude refers to the regions between the tropics and the polar circles, roughly 30 to 60 degrees north or south of the equator.

These zones experience distinct seasons and variable weather patterns: midlatitude cyclones, midlatitude forests.

The term appears primarily in geography, climatology, and meteorology.

Also written as two words: mid-latitude.
