middle term
Syllogism's linking concept
In logic, the middle term is the term that appears in both premises of a syllogism but not in the conclusion.
It serves as the link connecting the other two terms: in "All mammals are warm-blooded; all dogs are mammals; therefore all dogs are warm-blooded," the middle term is "mammals." More loosely, a middle term is any intermediate element that connects two things or ideas.
