massé
Cue ball curves
A massé is a billiards shot where the cue is held nearly vertical and strikes the ball with extreme spin, causing it to curve sharply around obstacles.
The technique requires striking downward at a steep angle: He attempted a massé to get around the blocking ball.
The word comes from French, referring to the mace-like stroke.
