Canning seal piece
A mason jar lid is the two-piece closure for a mason jar, consisting of a flat disc with a rubberized seal and a threaded metal band that screws onto the jar's rim.
The design allows home canners to create airtight seals for preserving food: I need to replace these mason jar lids before canning season.
One-piece lids exist for storage but aren't suitable for canning.
