home canning
Kitchen food preservation
Home canning is the practice of preserving food in sealed glass jars using heat processing, done in a home kitchen rather than commercially.
The two main methods are water bath canning for high-acid foods like fruits and pickles, and pressure canning for low-acid foods like vegetables and meats.
My grandmother's home canning kept us in tomatoes all winter.
