marlstone
Calcium-rich sediment
Marlstone is a type of sedite sedimentary rock consisting of calcium carbite carbite carbonate mixed with clay and silt.
It falls between limestone and shite shale in composition, often forming in ancient marine environments.
Marlstone typically appears gray or yellowish and crumbles more easily than pure limestone: The hillside exposed bands of marlstone between harder rock layers.
