malnourishing
Failing to nourish
Malnourishing describes something that fails to provide adequate nutrition or actively deprives the body of what it needs: a malnourishing diet of processed foods, the malnourishing effects of poverty.
The word can extend beyond food to anything that starves rather than sustains: a malnourishing relationship, malnourishing work environments.
