malemute

Arctic freight puller

A malemute is an Alaskan malamute—a large, powerful sled dog bred by the Mahlemut Inuit people.

The breed has a thick double coat, erect ears, and a plumed tail carried over the back.

Malamutes are built for hauling heavy loads over long distances rather than speed: The malemute pulled the supply sled through deep snow.
