magazine release
Clip ejection mechanism
A magazine release is the button or lever on a firearm that detaches the magazine—the removable container holding ammunition.
Pressing the magazine release allows the shooter to swap an empty magazine for a loaded one: He hit the magazine release and slammed in a fresh mag.
Location varies by weapon design, but it's typically near the trigger guard.
