slide lock
Sliding bar fastener
A slide lock is a locking mechanism that secures by sliding a bolt or bar into a fixed position, common on doors, gates, and cases.
On semi-automatic pistols, the slide lock (or slide stop) is a lever that holds the slide open after the last round is fired: The slide lock engaged when the magazine emptied.
Some locks on bathroom stalls and screen doors operate on this simple sliding principle.
