lung scan
Chest diagnostic picture
A lung scan is a medical imaging procedure that visualizes the lungs to detect abnormalities like blood clots, tumors, or infection.
The two main types are ventilation scans, which track inhaled radioactive gas, and perfusion scans, which track injected radioactive material through blood vessels.
Together they form a V/Q scan, commonly used to diagnose pulmonary embolism.
