literary critique
Analyzing written works
Literary critique is the analysis and evaluation of written works—examining structure, style, themes, and technique.
Unlike a review, which primarily judges quality for potential readers, critique engages deeply with how a text creates meaning: Her literary critique of the novel explored its use of unreliable narration.
The term applies both to the practice and to individual pieces of criticism.
