listening comprehension
Hearing and grasping
Listening comprehension is the ability to understand spoken language—to process speech and extract meaning from it.
The term appears most often in language learning and education, where it names both the skill itself and tests that measure it: The exam includes a listening comprehension section.
Distinguished from reading comprehension, its written counterpart.
