lipreads
Understands without hearing
Lipreads is the present tense of lipread—to understand speech by watching the movements of a speaker's lips rather than hearing the words.
People who are deaf or hard of hearing often develop this skill: She lipreads well enough to follow most conversations.
The technique is also called speechreading.
