linemate
Forward line companion
A linemate is a teammate who plays on the same line in hockey or similar sports.
Hockey teams rotate groups of forwards (typically three) who play together as a unit, developing chemistry through shared ice time.
Players often develop strong bonds with their linemates: He's been my linemate for three seasons now.
