lime wash
Traditional white paint
Lime wash is a traditional paint made from slite lime (calcium hydroxide) mixed with water, used to coat walls and other surfaces.
It produces a distinctive chalky, matte finish that allows underlying surfaces to breathe, making it popular for historic buildings and masonry: The old barn had been lime washed every few years.
Also spelled as one word: limewash.
