lighting check
Pre-show brightness verification
A lighting check is a brief test of stage or set lighting before a performance or shoot, ensuring lights are positioned, focused, and functioning correctly.
The term extends to any quick verification that illumination is adequate: Let's do a lighting check before we start recording.
In theater, lighting checks happen during technical rehearsals and again before audiences arrive.
