licorice tea
Sweet root brew
Licorice tea is an herbal infusion made from the root of the licorice plant, naturally sweet with a distinctive anise-like flavor.
It's caffeine-free and often marketed for digestive or throat-soothing properties: I drink licorice tea when my stomach is upset.
The sweetness comes from glycyrrhizin, a compound far sweeter than sugar.
