legislative assemblies
Elected governing chambers
Legislative assemblies are elected bodies that make laws for a state, province, or nation.
The term often refers specifically to the lower or only chamber in a bicameral or unicameral system: The legislative assembly passed the budget bill after weeks of debate.
In some countries, it names a particular governing body; in others, it's a general term for any lawmaking institution.
