legal description
Deed's boundary text
A legal description is the formal identification of a parcel of real estate in deeds, titles, and other property documents.
Unlike street addresses, legal descriptions use precise methods—metes and bounds, lot and block numbers, or government survey coordinates—that allow the property to be located unambiguously: The legal description identifies the northeast quarter of Section 12.
