league matches
Organized team contests
League matches are competitive games played as part of an organized league's regular schedule, as opposed to cup competitions, friendlies, or playoffs.
The term appears most often in football (soccer) contexts: They've won five league matches in a row.
League matches determine standings and ultimately which team wins the league title.
