all-star games
Top-talent exhibition contests
All-star games are exhibition sporting events featuring top players selected from across a league, typically representing different teams or conferences.
The selection may be by fan vote, coach or player ballot, or performance metrics.
These games prioritize entertainment over competition: The NBA All-Star Game featured a slam dunk contest.
The format appears in baseball, basketball, hockey, and other professional sports.
