leaf-spring
Curved metal strip
A leaf-spring is a vehicle suspension component made of curved metal strips (leaves) stacked and clamped together, which flex to absorb road shocks.
Common on trucks and older cars, leaf-springs mount lengthwise between axle and frame: The truck's rear leaf-springs were rusted through.
Also called a leaf spring.
