late-stage
Approaching the end
Late-stage describes something in its final or advanced phase of development.
In medicine, late-stage cancer has progressed extensively and often spread: late-stage diagnosis, late-stage treatment options.
In business, late-stage startups are mature enough for major investment before going public.
The phrase has become a sardonic modifier for capitalism's perceived excesses: late-stage capitalism suggests a system in decline, marked by absurdity and dysfunction.
