landing legs
Rocket descent supports
Landing legs are the extendable supports on a spacecraft or rocket that deploy before touchdown to keep the vehicle upright on the surface.
The term gained prominence with reusable rocket technology: The Falcon 9's landing legs extended seconds before touchdown.
Semi-trailers also have landing legs—retractable supports that hold the front end up when detached from the tractor.
