landfalling
Reaching the shore
Landfalling describes a storm or weather system making landfall—the moment it moves from water onto land.
The term appears almost exclusively in meteorological contexts: a landfalling hurricane, the landfalling typhoon brought catastrophic flooding.
A storm is landfalling as it crosses the coastline, not before or after.
