klezmer band
Jewish wedding musicians
A klezmer band plays klezmer—the traditional celebratory music of Eastern European Jews, characterized by clarinet, violin, and accordion, with expressive techniques that mimic laughing and weeping.
These bands were fixtures at Jewish weddings and festivals, and the style has seen revival in contemporary world music: We hired a klezmer band for the reception.
