keyguard
Button shield overlay
A keyguard is a protective overlay placed over a keyboard or touchscreen, with holes or openings aligned to individual keys.
It helps users with limited motor control press intended keys without accidentally hitting adjacent ones.
Keyguards are common accessibility tools for people with tremors, cerebral palsy, or other conditions affecting fine motor skills.
On smartphones, a keyguard may also refer to the lock screen that prevents accidental input when the device is in a pocket.
