Flat-topped headgear
Kepis is the plural of kepi, a flat-topped military cap with a visor, associated especially with French soldiers and the American Civil War.
The cap has a round, flat crown and a horizontal brim: The soldiers adjusted their kepis before the parade.
The style persists in some ceremonial uniforms and military academies.
