junior ranger
Park youth volunteer
Junior ranger refers to a youth program run by the U.S.
National Park Service and similar organizations, where children complete educational activities about nature, history, or conservation to earn a badge or certificate.
The program encourages kids to explore parks and learn about environmental stewardship: My daughter became a junior ranger at Yellowstone.
A junior ranger is a child participating in such a program.
