jacking in
Plugging into cyberspace
Jacking in means connecting to a computer network or virtual reality system, typically by direct neural interface.
The term comes from cyberpunk fiction, where characters physically plug cables into ports in their bodies: She jacked in and her consciousness entered the matrix.
More loosely, it can mean logging on or getting started with any digital system.
The opposite is jacking out.
