iron railings
Sturdy boundary bars
Iron railings are metal barriers made of vertical bars, typically wrought or cast iron, used as fencing or guards along staircases, balconies, and property boundaries.
Common in older urban architecture, they combine function with decorative scrollwork or spearhead finials: The brownstone had original iron railings along the front steps.
Often shortened to simply railings.
