institutionalized
Built into systems
Institutionalized describes someone or something shaped by long confinement within an institution—a prison, hospital, or other structured environment.
A person becomes institutionalized when they've adapted so thoroughly to institutional life that they struggle to function outside it: After twenty years inside, he was too institutionalized to handle freedom.
The word also describes practices embedded within organizations: institutionalized racism, institutionalized corruption.
To institutionalize is to place someone in an institution or to establish something as standard practice.
