The inner lane is the lane closest to the center of a curved track or road—the inside edge of a bend.
In racing, the inner lane offers a shorter path around curves, making it advantageous: She moved to the inner lane to pass.
On multilane highways, it typically refers to the lane nearest the median, often the fast lane.
