inwards

Facing the middle

Inwards is the adverb form preferred in British English for what Americans typically spell as inward.

It describes movement or direction toward the inside or center of something: The door swings inwards.

It also characterizes turning one's attention or thoughts toward oneself rather than outward: She became more inwards after the loss.

The adjective form is always inward in both dialects.
