indirect objects
Who gets what
An indirect object is the person or thing that receives what the direct object names.
In She gave him the book, "book" is the direct object and "him" is the indirect object—the recipient of the giving.
Indirect objects typically appear between the verb and direct object, or after "to" or "for": I made her a sandwich, I made a sandwich for her.
