idear

Dialectal thought word

Idear is a dialectal pronunciation of "idea," common in parts of New England, the American South, and various British dialects.

The added r-sound appears when "idea" precedes a vowel: I had no idear it was so late.

Linguists call this "intrusive r." The spelling captures this speech pattern, sometimes used mockingly but often simply representing natural regional pronunciation.
