hot corner
Baseman's demanding position
In baseball, the hot corner is third base—so called because right-handed batters frequently hit hard line drives in that direction, giving the third baseman little reaction time.
The term extends to any position or situation requiring quick reflexes under pressure: She's been manning the hot corner in customer service all week.
