highway exit
Interstate departure point
A highway exit is a ramp or interchange where vehicles leave a major road.
Exits are typically numbered and signed with destinations: Take exit 42 for downtown, We missed our exit.
The term applies to both the physical roadway and the act of leaving: The exit comes up fast after the bridge.
